It may sound corny, but it’s true: The job search is a journey, not a destination. Your interests may change, your skills can transfer, and things may work out differently than you once imagined. I’m a prime example of that.

For instance, I started out in social services, went on to real estate, started volunteering, went back to school for my MBA in healthcare, became a nursing home administrator, and then became part of CareerShift. For me, it was more about the journey — ensuring my interests guided that journey, and finding opportunities that matched where I was at different points in my life.

Recently, I chatted with Caroline Dowd-Higgins of Coach Me Radio’s “Career Coach Caroline” to discuss this topic and the things you discover along the way. In addition to her professional journey, we also talked about the following:

  • The history and benefits of CareerShift
  • Why Millennials are unique professionals, plus tips on how they can land a job
  • How job seekers can optimize their brands
  • Why networking is transformational, as opposed to transactional
  • How CareerShift can help all professionals, from entry-level to seasoned workers

Take a listen to the podcast here and be sure to to check out “Career Coach Caroline” every Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET.

Thanks to Caroline and the Coach Me Radio team for having me on! I hope to do it again soon!

What do you think? Did you check out the podcast featuring CareerShift? How is your professional journey going and what can you do to move it forward?
